Gaganyaan Mission Test Flight Updates
For the Gaganyaan program, Isro is getting ready for its first test flight without a crew. The crucial mission is scheduled to launch on October 21, 2023, at 8:45 IST But Cancelled before 05 Seconds, technical issue or Weather Issue. Before sending humans, this historic mission, also known as the Test Vehicle Development Flight Mission-1 (TV-D1) or Flight Test Vehicle Abort Mission-1, is a check to make sure everything functions.
In order to assess the Crew Module and Crew Escape System’s performance and safety in bringing Indian astronauts safely home on the upcoming Gaganyaan mission in 2025, the launch will utilize a single-stage liquid propulsion rocket. The repurposed rocket contains a specific module for the astronauts and an escape mechanism in case something goes wrong. This test will verify that these components are secure.
What is Gaganyaan Mission?
The main objective of the Gaganyaan mission is to launch humans into space, placing them in a Low Earth Orbit for a three-day expedition at an altitude of 400 kilometers, with a safe return to Earth planned for 2025.
An LVM3 rocket will be used to carry the Gaganyaan mission’s crew to the intended orbit. This rocket is made up of several stages, including cryogenic, liquid, and solid propulsion units.
What ISRO aims to gain from the abort demo test?
The goal of the abort demonstration test is to assess how well the Gaganyaan mission’s crew escape system works. This technology is intended to guarantee the astronauts’ safe return in the event of a crisis during the crew mission launch, which is scheduled for 2025.
The success of this test flight is essential because it proves that the crew escape mechanism can return astronauts to Earth safely. It serves as a crucial turning point in the uncrewed mission and qualification testing phases, ultimately clearing the way for the first Gaganyaan program mission.
